Hello there!!
That Jumpstarts cd is long outta print but if you hit me up on myspace, I can probably send you a burned copy. It's my old band and I'm psyched to hear that we still get mentioned!

Hi, I found this post almost by accident, and noticed The Jumpstarts song above. Recently I re-organized my CD collection and discovered the actual CD for Just a Little Bit was gone. The jewel case with the cover and everything was still there but not the CD. I love that CD so much and am dying to find a another copy. Do you happen to have a copy?

[...] This version was recorded live on the radio when they were in Texas last year. Vic’s playing a baby grand piano rather than a keyboard or organ, so I’m guessing the album version will sound a bit different… but either way, I know that this song has been stuck in my head for a while, so I’m happy it’s the first song on the new album. I had a lot of fun doing my music post last month, so maybe I’ll try to do a review post once I get this album. In the meantime, take a listen… [...]

Ethan,

Thanks! Actually, my best man Dennis has also been a part-time DJ, and I was tempted to just have him DJ, but I figured he'd be busy enough with other stuff (which he was!). Of course, if I had him DJ, he would have just known what ska to play without me having the chance to put together this fun playlist...

Dude, HELL yeah!

Beautiful tunes...and totally wedding-riffic!

I can't believe that business about the DJ. I'm getting married on the east coast this summer and I'm flying out a friend from L.A. who's a DJ to make sure it's copasetic ;-)

Truly amazing taste...bravo.

(And I make Jack Black's character from High Fidelity look like the president of the Kenny G fan club)

Boring side note: I saw the Pietasters play in some random church basement in Fairfax VA in ~1991, which I remember being cool. I was only 11 or 12 years old but I remember thinking that I wanted to throw the drummer through a window and take over myself.

Finally, are you getting royalties from Chris Anderson or what???

Congratulations on getting married!

Heh. Perhaps... though, unlike JwJ I was actually able to score TSPO albums during the 90s. A friend of mine sent me a tape of one of their albums (the one with the terribly sung Sesame Street theme song on it) and I if you looked hard enough you could find some of their albums in American stores. Not sure why the "mythical beasts" of ska all involve Japan.

And, actually, a few years back got to see them live when they did their American tour. They put on a fantastic live show.

I'll admit, I only sort of skimmed this post... but I always thought that the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra was the mythical best of ska in the 90s, though maybe that was a mistaken impression.
